General information and history.

The original game was created in 1983 (¡sure that there were electronic games in 1983 ??!!)

In this site you can get a version of this game for MS-DOS

As its title shows, this game is the second part of the famous DONKEY KONG, as well known as the game of the mad monkey that threw barrels, and that came to the light in several kinds of platforms on that old days, striking hard in the arcade market. In justice we must remember the great success of the arcade machine, (that became, in my humble opinion, one of the more impacting arcade machine in the history of the arcades, similar to another classic games like Asteroids, Pacman, Commando, Tetris or Street Fighter II, to mention some.)

Sequels of this game, as far as I know, in the field of simple portable arcade machine, were Donkey Kong III (double screen, as the two referred above), and Donkey Kong Jr (this with a single screen, but not less funny)

More current continuations, of course more elaborated compared to the former, because of the new graphical and sound features , are titles such as Donkey Kong Country for SuperNintendo(SuperFamicom) or the Donkey Kong Land series for Game Boy, (whose, with graphics rendered in Silicon Graphics computers, are some of the best games in the history of this consoles)
The saga is being continued on Nintendo 64 too.

Another merit that can be imputed to the DONKEY KONG game, is being the place in which MARIO,the principal character from Nintendo, first appeared. First jumping barrels to save the lady, later keeping chained Donkey Kong, and passing across an enormous list of console videogames (Super Mario World, Super Mario Land, Super Mario Kart, Dr. Mario, etc, etc…), until becaming film and cartoon protagonist, and the star of the more powerful games in 3D (Nintendo 64).

MARIO character, is still an endless gold mine for Nintendo, whom it is just to recognize the fantastic labour they have made, and the caress they put onto their favourite character.
